Guest information Casa B

Already as a child I was with my grandparents in the Rustico in Avegno. Now we have rebuilt the houses and make them accessible. Take care of the house and be considerate of the neighbors!

Please send me Photos of an identity card/passport (contact at the bottom)then the information about the key will follow. The Rustico is normally ready from 4pm. Please read this guest information and use the pictures for your arrival. Thank you very much!

Kitchen

  • Modern kitchen 6m2

  • Small refrigerator (no freezer compartment)

  • Induction stove with 4 plates, 2 pans, 2 pots (on stove or heat protection base)

  • Small stove

  • Nespresso coffee maker with milk frother, "push-through" coffee maker for 6 cups (ground beans)

  • Dishwasher

  • Tableware for 6 persons (12 plates, 12 soup plates, 12 smaller plates, 12 bowls, egg cups, 6 cups, 6 wine glasses, 6 champagne glasses, water glasses large/small, cutlery), bottle cooler

  • Boards, Victorinox knife, garlic press, mortar

  • Jura Chrome Toaster (manual)

  • Drying towels

Available, please replace if less than 1/3 full:

  • Salt, sugar (no flour)

  • Olive oil, balsamic vinegar

  • Hand dishwashing detergent, dishwasher tabs

  • Nespresso capsules (please bring if possible, it usually has a few, more available at Manor Ascona, compatible also at the gas station before Avegno)

  • Official waste bags (also at the gas station before Avegno), possibly in the box next to the dishwasher, please dispose of them on departure (see below).

  • Electric car: there are public charging stations in Avegno at the cemetery, at the filling station in Avegno and in Ascona.

Arrival

Arrival to Avegno

  • Casa B is usually available after 4pm or by appointment.

  • Public transport: Bus 315 every half hour from Locarno to "Avegno Grotti" (250m from the house). Then see below location access to Casa B.

  • Car: Enter https://goo.gl/maps/qtoH2Hrc94uTVTEt5 as destination (Via ai Grotti 5, Avegno). Please park on the left like the silver or white car on the picture (see also detailed map below).

  • For unloading/loading, you can also briefly reverse up here at your own risk, it is quite narrow.

  • The entrance to the kitchen of Casa B is in the passage on the left (official new address not in Google is "l Cará di Tondècch 12, 6670 Avegno", equivalent to Via ai Grotti 12, 6670 Avegno). A warm welcome!

  • One bedroom is just above the kitchen (use the outside stairs), the other bedroom is by the next but one door uphill (below the stairs in the photo).

Miscellaneous

  • The entrances to the rooms are not covered, umbrellas are available.

  • Please give the plants in the "air space" some water if necessary.

  • Two lights in the kitchen and one by the sofa are in switched outlets. Press the light switch on the wall.

  • In case of absence, please close windows and doors (door handle upwards) and roll up sun blinds (dry!), take cushions inside. Sometimes storms come up in uncertain weather.

  • It has central heating and fans, but it can get chilly/hot (not well insulated); open the doors/windows at night to cool down.

  • It may have mosquitoes. Sometimes it has small scorpions (harmless, compare bites with wasps, we have never been stung), check shoes.

  • Between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., please keep the peace outside and be considerate of your neighbors.

  • Smoking is not allowed inside, please seal smoking products in bag and dispose.

  • Avegno is located at the beginning of the Maggia Valley, in the winter months it is worth enjoying the sun during the day.

Departure

  • House drop off until 11 am on the day of departure

  • Please leave everything clean, wash dishes, dispose of trash (see below), thank you!

  • Put back key

  • Please report any damage, broken dishes, etc. so that we can get everything back in order in a timely manner. Please also report if the sun blind is still wet.

  • Please let us know directly if we can improve something or if you have some tips for us ;-)

Disposal

  • The official blue trash bags (CRRV) should be available in the kitchen (or please report).

  • The official disposal point for household waste, glass, PET, cardboard/paper, oil in Avegno is located in the direction of Locarno(link map, take the turnoff to Avegno di Fuori, after 20 meters before the school bus station turn right on the path, the disposal point is on the left). Opening hours daily 7:30 to 18:30h.

  • If you arrived by public transport, please deposit your waste bag in the space outside and report it.

  • Place the handle at the bottom right of the glass and lift the glass upwards.

  • Wood should be available in the passageway by the kitchen, otherwise please contact us. Please be sparing with the wood.

  • The fireplace must not be used for cooking.

  • Turn the exhaust air flap with handle on the right side of the metal chimney (see picture), pull the supply air flap during heating (silver knob see picture at the same height in the open shelf), close it later.

  • Light the fire from above (special kindling wool under the kindling wood), pull the glass down and leave a gap open as necessary. Remove handle, can get very hot!

  • When firing, there may naturally be some smoke (clothes).

The open fireplace at the round table by the kitchen now has a fan that can be controlled in 5 steps (not tested yet). Please fire it sensibly.

Tips

On the website of Ascona-Locarno it has many tips. A tourist office is located at the gas station Centro Valle before Avegno. With the app "my Ascona-Locarno" there are 10-30% discounts on various activities(QR registration, customer number "C30014", not always much cheaper). Please report tips or experiences.

  • Avegno over the suspension bridge to Ronchini or in the direction of Dunzio, Streccia, Verscio, possibly Grotto Pedemonte (Verscio).

  • From Avegno to Locarno/Cardada, then on foot to Avegno (4h).
